Usain Bolt made a tentative 100m return at last night’s Rome Diamond League – but still blew away the opposition to win the race.

The Jamaican (wearing blue, lane 4) – without a competitive race in nine months – got off to a horrendous start in the race. Compatriot Asafa Powell powered into an early lead and look set for victory, before Bolt hauled him back over the last 20m.

Bolt recorded a time of 9.91secs – disappointing by his own high standards. But given the poor start, it looks like there is still plenty to come.
